Installing Timber Flooring: A Step-by-Step Guide

Installing timber flooring can be a rewarding DIY project if approached correctly. Before starting, it is essential to gather all necessary tools and materials. This includes timber planks, underlay, adhesive, and a saw.

Preparation

Begin by preparing the subfloor. Ensure it is clean, dry, and level. Any imperfections can affect the installation and the final look of the flooring. Once the subfloor is ready, lay down the underlay to provide cushioning and sound insulation.

Installation Process

  1. Start in a corner of the room and lay the first row of timber planks.
  2. Use spacers to maintain an expansion gap along the walls.
  3. Continue laying planks, ensuring they fit snugly together.
  4. Cut the last plank to fit, if necessary.
"Proper installation is key to a long-lasting timber floor."

Once all planks are laid, finish with trim and enjoy your new flooring!
